Doodlebug Stamped Card

Doodlebug's new stamp sets licensed through Hampton Arts are the perfect addition to all the cute Doodlebug collections.  The stamp sets match the darling designs in their papers and embellishments.  There are cling mount rubber stamps as well as clear mount stamp sets, and all of them are super high quality and great to use.

This week the Doodlebug team's showing off these cute stamp sets, and I decided to use some fun techniques on my card.

Doodlebug's ink pads are by ColorBox, and they're pigment ink, so since it's not water based, it dries slower and is slightly tacky and is the perfect medium for embossing powders.  Here I used a clear powder with translucent glitter in it to give the butterflies a shimmer.

The two-toned effect was done by using the "Rock and Roll" technique.  You ink the stamp in one color (usually the lighter color) and then you roll the edges only in a darker color of ink, and then stamp.  The two inks blend together where they meet, and it gives a pretty ombre look.

I stamped the butterflies twice and cut them out.  Then I layered them using dimensional adhesive and curled the edges up by gently curling the paper around my fingers.

The sentiment was also done using the same embossing powder.

The card was based on this sketch we were given:

I used the "Flower Garden" stamp set, and there are so many other great sets to choose from.  You can find these sets at Michaels, Two Peas in Bucket, Scrapbook.com, as well as many other places.  I'll be using more Doodlebug stamps for another project next week.

Head on over to the Doodlebug Blog to see other great stamping projects all week long.

Thanks for visiting!

  3. Gorgeous card! May I ask, what kind of adhesive do you use to adhere the twine?

  4. I used a Zig 2-way glue pen. Just draw the curls with the glue pen and then lay your twine over the glue path. The glue dries clear :)
